Manila Cathedral

The Manila Cathedral, also known as the minor basilica of the Immaculate Conception, was the seat of the Archbishop of Manila during the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines, and still remains the ecclesiastical seat of the Archdiocese of Manila.

Aside from being historical the Manila Cathedral is also a very valuable artwork in itself. Inside is a grand church filld with paintings and sculptures.

La Pieta at Manila Cathedral

This is a replica of Michelangelo's La Pieta. It is a symbol for the Affinity of the Filipino people to Jesus and Mary's sacrificial love for mankind.

Manila Cathedral is also a favorite wedding spot. For some reason people are awed if they heard you got married there. Fun Fact: You need to book one year earlier if you want to get married here.

The cathedral is also the resting place for former prelates who served the Archdiocese of Manila.
